Walmart says viral video of food being thrown away doesn’t tell the whole story

CELINA, Ohio (WTHR) – A video being shared around social media that shows Walmart throwing out several shopping carts full of food has gone viral, but the company says the backlash surrounding the video doesn’t tell both sides of the story.

Walmart says the video came from a Walmart in the northwestern Ohio city of Celina. They say it was taken on November 5th after a tornado came through. That same tornado went through Jay County, Indiana.

They say that tornado caused a 14-hour power outage, which made their refrigerated food unsafe for consumption.
